National Park Chitwan National Park is one of the best Parks in Nepal, established in 1973, where you can have a look of various species of birds, plants and animals including wildlife, flora and fauna. Chitwan is situated only 150m above the sea level, during the March-June the steamy covers all the way around. Whereas the short grass of Feb-May the best game-viewing season, but the autumn months are gorgeous with Himalayan views and in winter (December-January). Nepal is best known with the beautiful mountains, but there are the Genetic flat lands of Terai that is stretched throughout the southern part of Nepal, which provide an entirely different experience. A visit to Nepal is incomplete without seeing the beauty of this Terai belt and no doubt Chitwan is the best place to do so. How to get there? By rafting: We can depart from Kathmandu at 7.00 A.M. by car/coach to Mugling (Confluence of Marshynagdi and Trisuli River) from where exciting rafting begins and floats down to a picnic spot for lunch along the river side and continues to destination, where our vehicle will be waiting to transfer you to Chitwan national park. Or, we simply can departure from Kathmandu at 7.00 A.M by car/ coach for Chitwan National park on the Mugling-Narayanghat highway 175 km to the park. By Air: The air service is available from Kathmandu to Bharatpur everyday. It takes only about 20 min. Activities Elephant Safari: You can travel through open grassland and dense forest on elephant back in search of rare games; you can spot one horned rhino, various species of deer, wild boar, sloth bear, leopard, bison and the big one, the Royal Bengal tiger etc. Canoe Rides: A traditional dugout takes you on a silent trip down the Rapti River to view birds, crocodile and the animals of the river, especially from October through to mid March. Nature Walkking in the Jungle: Well-trained naturalists/ecologists take you to prime spots to view deer, rhino, sloth bears and other wildlife and no doubt the detailed explanation from the experienced guide on wildlife and jungle will help to widen the knowledge and enjoy your trip. The reserve offers an important habitat for a variety of wildlife. The last surviving population (about 100 individuals) of wild buffalo or Arna is also found here including other mammals. A total of 280 different species of birds have been recorded. Amidst the jungle environment Aqua Birds unlimited camp and Koshi Tappu Wildlife Camp have come into existence. The activities include here are morning jungle walk by the river lagoons and wetlands, canoe ride, slide shows, bird watching, cultural dances and visit unique village settlements. Morning / Evening Jungle walk The jungle along the belts of the Koshi River, part of the Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve is known for its richness in birds and other animal species. The river lagoons and wetlands provide excellent opportunity to sight bird life, deer and herds of water buffaloes. Soft Wildlife Rafting taking a raft down the Koshi River is another alternative for exploring the reserve. Here, you can see the water birds or animals off to their daily chores with wonderful sights like Kingfishers diving down the river looking for food, the marsh muggers or the ghariyal crocodile sun bathing but of course out of reach. You might be lucky enough to spot the rare wild buffaloes. Down the end, at the barrage Gangetic river dolphins could be your best view of the day. Village Walk this is another interesting activity. Tharus, the early inhabitants of the region have their own unique way of living not affected by the western influence. Their beautifully decorated homes and their way of living can be an interesting thing of part of the tour. The village is also plastic-free, one of the few environmentally aware and clean villages in the country.
