The centre of New Zealand is in Nelson. It is an 800 metre walk up to the centre of New Zealand where you can get 360 degree panoramic views of Nelson and the surrounding hills. Listed as a 20 minute walk but this depends on your level of fitness. Also popular as a run. The park at the bottom of the hill (the Botanical Reserve) is the home to a lot of heritage listed trees and also where the first rugby game was ever played in New Zealand.
