Lieutenant Reg Barker died June 8, 1944, just 2 days after the D-Day invasion. He and at least 33 other comrades were executed by the Hitler Youth 12 SS soldiers who were escorting them across a grain field in Normandy. He was 36 years old. I visited his grave at Beny sur Mer Cemetery in Normandy. In the photo you can see the flag I brought with me as well as a snap shot of some Queen's University Football players, On the back of the photo is a note "Thank you Reg from William VanRuyven and Family, We will remember you" Reg led Queen's U to intercollegiate championships in 1934 and 1935. I have heard that Reg was an American by birth. If you can inform please contact the writer at this address.
