Not the prettiest city, but the big city on Lake Titicaca on the Peruvian side and gateway to the Bolivian side (far prettier). Anywho, Puno is 7 hours from Arequipa by bus, we took a 11 pm bus and arrived at 5:30 am....way to early. So we hung out in the bus terminal until it was light out, since the City is not super safe when it is dark, and well it was way warmer inside then elsewhere! When we arrived it was snowing....mind you this was July 1st, sad. So we went to the restaurant for tea, which i now like, to warm up. The best is the Mate de coca (leaves of the plant used to make cocaine), unfortuantely illegal to export.... While waiting for light we also signed up for a tour of the Uros Islands (seen below) and a bus to Bolivia.
