Here I am stumbling over my Bariba speech during the swear in ceremony. Notice the outfit and the hair. All the volunteers had outfits created from this material in keeping with Beninese tradition to wear what they call uniform outfits for special ceremonies. I spent a VERY PAINFUL few hours obtaining this spectacular hairdo of tiny, curlicued braids, made possible by the addition of mesh, or fake hair, and the nimble, and strong, fingers of several tired apprentices at the studio of my mama. At one point during the process, I had to grip my friend Cristy's hand to keep from screaming. Never again.
