This is my first mission trip and I'm really looking forward to it. I have always admired the Habitat program because I believe that the best way to help people is to work with them doing something constructive and I can't think of anything more constructive than to help someone build a better house. The first gift I bring to the team is some experience with building projects. That experience consists primarily of what I've done as a home owner and free laborer. I actually helped to build three garages and three porches, my parents, my brothers and my own. Also, I've been involved in all sorts of building projects working almost every summer since I was a kid at the camping area that my Aunt and Uncle built in Maine. Essentially, I've dug foundations by hand, mixed cement in a wheelbarrow with a hoe, laid cement block, done some carpentry, some basic electrical, some plumbing and I've even done some roofing. The other gifts I hope I bring is patience, an open mind and a willingness to help people. In addition to the construction work we'll be doing I'm very much looking forward to whatever outreach work we are able to do with the local people. That's kind of a new thing for me and I'm hopeful that it will be a real positive experience both for the people we meet in Huite and for our team.

Good going Ron!
Ron, you and the team are in my prayers for safe keeping. As you are being a blessing to others, may you also discover greater blessings from the people and from the Lord than you ever could have imagined. Much joy to you in Guatemala...drink plenty of water!
Hey Ron, how are you holding up under the heat? We continue to lift up the team in prayer asking God to give each of you the strength needed to do the tasks set before you. We pray for God's protection upon you and for a safe return. We look forward to hearing from you not only how you blessed the people you met in Guatemala but also to hear how you were blessed by them.
