    Back in the late 1940's Mahindra licensed the "Jeep" design and name from Willy's Overland. They have been making "Jeep" vehicles in India ever since and you can still buy a brand new "Jeep" in India that evolved independently from the Jeeps sold in North America and manufactured by AMC, Chrysler, etc...
