This is some of Dan's family. Oltabek is the older brother and speaks English pretty well. He is on the left next to Barbara, a PCV from Samarkand. Then Dan, Me and Rustam. Dan's host mother and sister, Maftuna are on the right. The Dad, Babushka (actually since it is an Uzbek family, it is Buva Jon) and older sister are missing. The family, especially Rustam, had a hard time grasping my name so they call me Shirin. Which means sweet in Uzbek. Shirin is also the name of the heroine in a famous story by the Uzbek poet Alisher Navoi. (Yes, the same Navoi of my city.)
