A block away from the historic Plaza and near the end of the Old Santa Fe Trail, this church serves as headquarters for the Santa Fe Archdiocese. There has been a St. Francis church on this spot since 1610, when Santa Fe was founded. The present building was completed in 1887 and Pope Benedict elevated the Cathedral to a Basilica in 2005.
