27 Mar 80 Lukla air strip. Looking W down runway from Take Off end. Planes must always land to the E and TO to the West. At the E end of the strip the terrain rises much too steeply for an a/c to climb. At the W end of the strip it drops off like a sheer cliff. Also the E end is about 300 ft higher than the West end. Twin Otters fly here fequently. Many trekkers to Everest fly into Lukla to start or better fly out of here after completing their trek.
