Your description of "at oneness of the family of beings" struck me this morning as David and I enjoyed our chickens roaming the yard and following us around. We also watched Food, Inc. and saw how "out of touch" we humans are with the creatures of the earth. We are fortunate to enjoy our cat, squirrels and the neighbor's dog too. My kids were fortunate to know goats, a horse, a calf, chickens and two pigs they helped raise. I wonder if they appreciate the connection.
