The women of the rural area around the dig contribute a lot to the explorations. They sort through dirt for objects, make tourist crafts related to the dig, and provide oral histories--which link the current population to those of 10,000 years ago. By cultural practices, not genetics. I would be interested, however, if there are any human DNA samples to be found for historical tracing.
