Women entering mosques are required to wear head scarves. For those that don't have one, there are some available at the entrance. You are also required to remove your shoes before entering. To control the pandemonium that would most certainly ensue if hundreds of worshippers all piled their shoes at the entrance and looked for them at once after prayers, there are hundreds of little locker boxes conveniently situated near the entrance.
