At one point, I got so excited about the views that I very quickly stopped the bike to take a picture that just presented itself. What I didn't take into consideration was the fact that the road was steeply dipping to one side of the roadway. When I went to put my foot down to balance the bike, it didn't quite reach and I tilted over and slowly, painfully, watched me and my fully loaded bike fall over in slow motion onto the ground. It was nearly 30 degrees Celsius outside. I was already heating up pretty good, and this didn't cool me down one bit. The last thing I needed was to grunt and groan and somehow get my 400+ lb bike up off the ground. As I was taking my bags off and trying to figure out how to get the bike up, a bearded "angel" and his two awesome mutts came walking onto the road from a creek above. Salvation! Ok Ok..at first my thoughts were "what a doofus I am...this guy must think I'm an idiot for dropping my bike here"...I got over those silly thoughts in a millisecond, however, and asked him if he could give me a hand. We chatted a bit and I was invited back to Rick's Shangri-la, as I called it for a rest and a tall glass of cool fresh creek water.
