UNESCO world heritage site and founded in 3 BC, Volubilis is quite stunning for its sheer size. More importantly, the preserved (although we don't know how since they aren't covered) mosaics of roman gods and deities were very cool as were the ruins themselves. Surrounded by olive groves, Volubilis was the hub of a province noted as Roman Africa as was occupied for nearly 1000 years. Although heavily destroyed by an earthquake in the mid 18th century, a large portion of its marble was also taken and used for construction in Meknes. Mosaics included Diane in her bath, the seasons, a chariot race, and Hercules in a battle.
