Last time I was in Prague, when I said I was American, I was automatically told the story of how the U.S. company stole the Budweiser brand and attempted to steal the recipe... Trying to get someone to tell you the story on film is more difficult... Finally after talking with 5-6 people, someone told me the story :)... for those who don't know, Czech Budweiser has been around long before American Budweiser. The Czech's say that the U.S. company stole the brand and attempted to steal the recipe (but failed with emulating the taste because of the high quality of the Bavarian barley and brewing method)... Lawyers have been in battle since the late 1800's. The precarious settlement... The U.S. company can only sell its beer labeled as "Bud" in Europe and the Czech company cannot sell in the U.S. The 2 beers taste nothing alike (the Czech version is much fuller)... Who's king? Who's queen? Bud light... what is she? The neglected stepchild? Bud dry? So many questions....
