In 1872, the first railway system was built by Japan National Railways (JNR) between Shinbashi and Yokohama. Twelve years later, Taketoyo Line was built as the first railway of Aichi Prefecture, because JNR needed to carry materials to build Tokaido Line from Taketoyo Port to Atsuta, Nagoya. The terminal of Taketoyo Line is Taketoyo Station at the present, but it was Taketoyo Port Station at that time. The turntable in Tenshadai Pocket Park is a remnant from the days of old Taketoyo Port Station.
