Oh, it looks to me that you may have been one of the few unlucky tourists who happened to drop into the Mongol Costumes museum when the athropologist was out for lunch. I am sorry! Without a very basic background information (something like Mongolian traditional clothes-101) centuries-long cultural artifacts may indeed look 'hideous'! I am indeed facinated by traditional clothes in different culture. Unlike stuffed animals at the Nature Museum or send dunes out in the Gobi desert, traditional costumes do not make an immediate sense unless you are ready. Good luck next time.
