The Olmecs comprised the first great civilization of Mexico. They carved over a dozen of these giant heads, which weighed tons, and the volcanic stone had to be hauled over 60 miles. They have investigators in awe. The running theory is that they were portraitures of rulers. I've heard lots about these from Dr. Reilly, and it was really cool to see them in person.
