The bidge is part of the old Japanese trail across the mountains ( one of the total 14 cross mountain trails in Taiwan). We have already seen other sections of the old trail on the western side. This section winds up the mountain for about 250 meters and connects again with road No. 20 at the higher elevation, but if you walk it you aill miss the gorge.
