Designed begun in 1550 by Andrea Palladio "Rotonda" refers to the central circular hall with its dome. The structure and rooms are proportioned with mathematical precision according to his rules of architecture. In order for each room to have sun the design was rotated 45 degrees from each cardinal point of the compass.Today it is owned by Vlmarana, an architect and expert on the works of Palladio. He was a professor of architeture at U of Virginia. The villa has been his family's home for more than two centuries.
