Wow, I have a photo almost identical, taken in 2002. I agree, Charnley is 'cows first, people second', I worked there in 2002 and tried to change that ethos - if only for the people who visited during my stay! (I did get told off for giving people too much cake; I figured after driving all the way to the Homestead, they deserved it!). It is very beautiful (despite the welcome), shame you didn't manage to get to the gorges.
