Royal Palace The history we learnt about the Lao people was that there was this awesome king who reined for just over 50 years (King Sisavangvong) until he passed away in 1959 to then pass the crown onto his son. The son then reined for a while until the country ended up becoming communist and is now called "Lao peoples democratic republic"
