Arriving in Timbuktu was like arriving in a mad max scene but with very nice and civilised actors. Yet the sand storm reduced visibility to 50 meters and gets everywhere, especially up your nose. There is not much point trying to stay clean here, as long as your t-shirt doesn't stink, then it's good for another day or three.
