Turkish rugs are famed throughout the world, and for good reason. I will not pretend to be any sort of a carpet connoisseur, but I feel like I browsed through enough shops, suffered through enough sales pitches, and bought enough rugs (two) that I can rightly say: they're excellent. Side story: A couple people and I were looking at a good-sized silk rug at a carpet shop in the Anatolian countryside. One of the guys who worked there saw us standing there and gaping and said, "Four wives, two villas, and three Ferraris you can have, and then you will be ready for this." Basically telling us in no uncertain terms, 'This is out of your league, kids, so scram, and damn it quit breathing on it.'
