It is a beautiful flower of a tree that seems to grow upside down.We have few specimens of this tree at Mandu in M.P.
Three living specimens have also been witnessed in Bhopal district. These trees are growing at Berasia,Arera colony and Tulsinagar. However the oldest one is at Berasia

There is immediate need not only for the in situ conservation of the existing specimens of ADANSONIA DIGITATA but also its micropropagation and mass multiplication so that this exotic species with immense economic potential is saved from its extinction from Indian subcontinant.
Prof.Sugandha Singh,of Sant Hirdaram Girls College,Bhopal through her tireless efforts has been successful in developing a protocol for its micropropagation.
