On our 5th day of biking out of Srinagar we dropped into Lamayuru at mid-day. our legs were shot, the town was nice, the hotel was clean, so there we spent the rest of the day resting and eating and checking out the Monestary, reputed to be the oldest in Ladakh (more than 1000 years old). The town, however, was totally deserted since the Dalai Lama was in Leh, a mere 125km away, and most of the town had picked up an gone off to see him.
