20Defense of the Motherland Statue, aka Tin Tits
Another monument that the Ukranians were "encouraged" to erect in honor of Russia - this titanium Soviet Mother faces Moscow and stands 236 feet tall (the Statue of Liberty, from base to torch, is 151 feet tall.) The locals hate this woman, hence the affectionate nickname mentioned in the Title.

The Motherland Statue was built during the Soviet era as a memorial to those who fought and those lost in the "Great Patriotic War" (WWII). Many Kyivians didn't like it because it distracts from Kyiv's skyline which was historically dominated by churches, not because they were "encouraged" by the Russians to build it.
I have a huge fascination of statues all over the world but this one has always stood out in my mind even as a child. Its just such a beautiful statue. It would be such a shame to see that happen. I really hope that they take action soon.
