My father, Cyril Arthur O'Leary together with other Engineers and hundreds of workmen repaired the Goteik Viaduct after it was damaged at its highest point during World War II. I believe two whole piers were destroyed.. We, as children had the pleasure of living there. After the work was almost completed my father contracted celebral malaria and and sadly died within three days.
