I am drawn to strong women in history, so it delights me when I see references made to these women in the public sphere. Dhat an-Nitaqain is the nickname of Asma bint Abu Bakr. When Muhammad and Abu Bakr fled Makkah for Madina, they spent some days hiding in a cave outside Makkah. Asma prepared provisions for them, and she tore her sash/belt in half and used half to help tie the provisions for carrying. She was then given the nickname Dhat an-Nitaqain, or the Owner of Two Sashes.
