This is a very beautiful place west of the village Sandvík. The sea stack is called Ásmundarstakkur. Other place names from this area are for instance: Lambhagin, Rituskor and Glyvrabergsgjógv. Sandvík is the northernmost village in the island Suđuroy in the Faroes. The population is around 100. Sandvík has a Viking history. Sigmundur Brestisson, a Viking chief, was swimming from the island Skúvoy to Sandvík, where he was killed by Torgrímur Illi (Torgrimur the Mean). There is a monument raised in Sandvík over Sigmund Brestisson, the monument is made by Hans Pauli Olsen.
