The students normally finish the High School just before Jóansøka (late June), and recieve their diplomas at the Joansoka Festival. I took this photo at the Midsummer Festival, which is called Jóansøka. This festival was held in Tvøroyri this year (2009), but next year it will be celebrated in Vágur, the second largest town/village. These two villages have the festival every second year. It is held in the last weekend of June. There are many events: rowing competition, art exhibitions, musical events, sports events, activities for children etc. Tvøroyri is the largest town in Suðuroy. The ferry Smyril sails 2-3 times daily between the capital Tórshavn and Tvøroyri. Suðuroy is the southernmost of the Faroe Islands.
