The village on this photo is Fámjin, a small village, which is situated on the west coast of Suðuroy in the Faroe Islands. On this photo you can see The Old Shop, which is from 1880'ies. Now it is a café. The first Faroese flag is hanging in the church of Fámjin. It was made in 1919 by some Faroese students in Copenhagen, and it was recognised in 1940 during the World War II, when The Faroes were occupied by Great Britain and Denmark, which the Faroe Islands are a part of, was occupied by Germany. The Faroese flag, Merkið, is celebrated in Fámjin every year on the Flagday on the 25th of April. The population of Fámjin is around 110.
