Lived in Ethiopia as a PCV long ago and don't remember gunfo. But one of our students is in US now and, visiting her, I went to a celebration of a new baby and gunfo was served, allegedly to strengthen the mother's back. It was good, like delicious, but I am not sure what grain was used....
