This tree was insane. That "wall" behind me is only about 8 inches thick...i believe it is actually a root of the tree...crazyness. The tree is the oldest one on the island and is several hundred years old. Another interesting thing about it was that it was COVERED by these little thorns in most places! From a distance it looked like an inviting climbing tree, but you couldn't get a hold on anything without spikes all over it!!

It is called a Ceiba tree... and yes, it is thorny all over.
It is protected by law in PR, since there not that much of them left, and there's a TON of them in Vieques!
