I don't think there's any in this photo, but I did see compounds of police jeeps and military planes all lined up. Most houses and walls are made of either concrete or adobe (mud brick), hence the brown appearance. And yes, it is as dusty as it looks! There are no skyscrapers as such, but there are some higher buildings that you don't really see in this picture.
