Legend has it that a farmer named Jacinto had tied one of his cows to him while crossing the rocky formation. When the cow stepped too closely to the edge she fell in, dragging Jacinto with her.

As the legend goes, if you holler "JACINTO" into the hole, the ocean gets agitated and sprays up thru the hole. TRY IT! I did as a child, while on tour with my parents.
He was grasing the cow, but he was so "vago" to hold the rope that he tight it to his waist, the animal got a scare from the wave beating on the rocks and jumped into the hole, that untill then was named....."El Joyo de Juana".
