About this blog
Our initial destination for this journey wasYemen and its very isolated island called Socotra. We cancelled all our bookings at the very last minute due to the unrest in Yemen following the failed Christmas bombing by a suicide bomber onboard Delta Airlines. Investigations into the bomber's background and connections led to the arrest of a senior Al-Qaeda leader in Yemen and following that, both the British and American Embassies were temporarily closed due to terrorists' threats in the country. We did not like to be stressed during our holidays and hence, Istanbul in Turkey, Jordan and Egypt became the replacement destinations for this trip. Putting together an independent travelling itinerary for these countries proved to be much easier than we had thought.
This is our blog for the first leg of this trip - Istanbul, Turkey. We were totally blown away by the extravagance and colours of Istanbul. A fantastic destination - a total must for all, at least once in their lifetime!!
