January 2009: A Close Encounter with Sipadan, Borneo

We started 2009 with a memorable trip to the Mabul Island, situated off the state of Sabah, Borneo. The main reason most people come to Mabul is to dive in its more famous sister-island, Sipadan, voted one of the top 5 diving spots in the world. Sipadan is now controlled by the Malaysian army after the unfortunate kidnapping incident 6 years ago. While Argi enjoyed one of his BEST underwater encounters with all kinds of wonderful sea-creatures, I too, thoroughly enjoyed my stay in Mabul and Sipadan as a non-diver.
