This 6 weeks Laos & Cambodia overland trip began one year ago when I was in Lao Bao, Vietnam, 30 km from the Laos border. The road sign pointed to Savannekhet, Laos. There was a burning desire to just step into Laos and have a look. I decided against the idea and promised to do a proper Laos visit.

Later at Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, the idea of entering into Cambodia was irresistable but I was not able to do so. After returning from Vietnam, the wheels started rolling immediately in planning this Laos & Cambodia overland route. Six weeks however were rather short for an itinerary of two big countries. Several remote regions of Laos & Cambodia were not included in favour of spending extra time at various places of interest. The beauty of doing this connecting overland route was being able to visit regions not accessible by planes.

It was truly an exciting adventure and I returned with nothing but amazing memories of Laotian & Khmer hospitality, landscape and culture. Thank you for your interest in reading my travel blog. Hope that it will bring you closer to the doorsteps of Laos & Cambodia.
