About this blog

The walkers' Haute Route from Chamonix to Zermatt is an amazing trek through the Swiss Alps spanning altitudes from 800 to 3000m. If you're fit, not on too tight a budget and have time it's a very rewarding walk crossing a number of alpine ridges and taking in some of the highest peeks of the Alps. It's pretty strenuous (1000m up and then 1000m down in one day is a fairly common day's work), but well worth it for the scenery! Thankfully weather was good and due to injuries and laziness - this was supposed to be our vacation ! - we tried to cut as many corners as was feasable without bypassing the enjoyment, hence the title!!! Come on, honestly, deep inside, don't you want to cheat it, too? ...
