40 Years and Still Alive! Even though this is the first time in 40 years I've been back to Saigon, this blog will have nothing to do with the Vietnam war. It was depressing enough the first time.

About this blog

This is a private family blog just to let you all know where we are and what, or how, we're doing.

Reid is going to find his roots, and I'm going to look for stems and offshoots. Neither one of us knows exactly what we're going to find, or even what we're going to do. The plan was that he'd work for a year and save up, sell his house, put most of the cash into another house, and then bring enough money to last for a year. My part of the plan was to drift across the border a few days before his arrival and then tag along.

I'll cross the border on the 4th of April at the little Chinese town of Hekou and then take the train to Saigon. Reid will fly from Portland and we'll meet in Saigon on April 10.
