To Make a Chicken Bus
About this blog
This journal will follow my travels with filmmaker Mark Kendall as we capture on film the transformation of a US school bus into a Guatemalan camioneta, or chicken bus. A chicken bus is a colorfully painted bus used for public transportation, it's name referring to the fact that live animals are regular passengers.
Our travels begin in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at a school bus auction where we will meet Fernando who will be purchasing a bus and driving it to Guatemala. Together we will ride through the US, cross the Mexican border, and continue on to Huehuetenango, Guatemala. We will settle into this western highland town where we will document the rebirth of an old bus and the stories of the people who make it happen.
