About this blog

We flew into Cancun and rented a car. Drove to Valladolid, stayed in a great hostel. Visited Ek Balam which is a ruin that has few visitors but is a great place to visit. We then stayed in Merida and spent time in the downtown area. While there we went on a trip to visit Uxmal. This ruin was very large and complex. On the same day trip we had a flat tire. I felt pretty brave changing a tire on the side of a Mexican highway... We had lunch at a hacienda. Went to a remote Cenote and went for a swim. When we left Merida we went on a day trip to Celestun. This area has Flamingos in their natural habitat. It was pretty cool... We then moved to Ixamal. We stayed at a wonderful bed and breakfast. We had many different experiences here. We rented bikes and rode to a nearby town. We ate at several local street vendors. It was a really nice town. We enjoyed the area so much that we extended our stay for another day. We than moved to Cancun to finish our trip. In Cancun we saw a bull fight and experienced a totally different culture. It was almost like being in the U.S. We did enjoy ourselves, but would be very happy in the other areas of the region. We visited an island off the coast of Cancun. It is called the Isla Mujeres. We rented bikes and toured the island....
