About this blog

With permission from the department and my college, I'm on a research leave from U of T for a semester. I am at the National University of Singapore from August to December. I'm pursuing independent field research for credit (co-supervised by professors at both institutions) and courses for my joint minor.

I left Toronto mid June. I decided to revisit Asia for 7-8 weeks. Last visit was when I was 7 when my parents took me out of school from December to mid-January (~7 weeks). Except this time...I backpacked. No five star Sheraton Hotels. But it did come to a total of 12 flights and numerous boat/bus rides.

I've been asked by various friends about my trip. Now you guys can have a look at exactly where I went (with the help of the map setting). And friends in Toronto can read what I've been up to.

My favourite country: Cambodia (you can probably tell from the blog entries -it made me think a lot and bond with the people!)

My favourite natural landscape: Barracuda Point (diving in Sipadan)

My favourite experience: All of it.

My least favourite experience: Vomiting lady sitting next to me on the bus ride (she puked 8 times!)

My most painful experience: Hurting my elbow in Koh Phi Phi (Thailand)

My favourite hostel: Masada Backpacker

My favourite hotel: Golden Temple Villa (Siem Reap) and Nirwa Homestay (Bali)

My favourite food: Sari Organics (Ubud, Bali)

The most eye-opening experience: getting to know the people in Cambodia
