About this blog

As the days get shorter and darker, we are off again; this time to Italy, Egypt and Jordan. Thanks to the 29,000 + folks who have viewed the previous India Blog.

First the good news!

As usual Barbie has done it again, managing to secure two FREE round trip tickets from Seattle to Cairo and back using our Alaska Airline Credit Card's mileage plan. The time frame is off season for Italy so we will move from the north to the south from Venice to Sicily over a period of 5-6 weeks. We hope to rent a car in Sicily for 5 days or so.

We will then fly onward to Cairo Egypt (High season there) to see sights and cruise down the Nile River, then fly to Sinai and dive the Red Sea before we fly onward to Amman, Jordan. While in Jordan we will visit Amman, and spend several days at the ancient city of Petra, before returning to Egypt and then home.

Now for the Bad news: Our free tickets are on Air France, so we will be flying into and onward from Paris. Currently it looks like we may be able to get into the country next Monday , flying direct while enjoying the great food and great wine on board the large Jet. Getting out of France aboard our prepaid Easy Jet flight to Venice on Oct 28th may be another matter as the Union strikers and government workers have proclaimed that day, the 28th of October, as a National Day of Action.

The city will be pretty much shut down with Air Traffic control disruptions, Refinery shut downs, Truckers blocking the roads, no garbage service, Phew!.

We are hopeful we can find a way to clear out of Paris pronto, if not by air, then by train, and get into Italy and on to our schedule ASAP, where things should be mellower.

Stay tuned , If you got this email, you will continue to get periodic posts on our whereabouts and photos of the places we are visiting. Hope you enjoy this winter trip from the cool NW.

Feel free to comment about our travels and my photos, but be advised everyone can see them, so thanks for being courteous

Here is hoping that we don't fly right into a new French Revolution! Who would have thought our problems would begin on Day one in a first world country?
