About this blog

In the Summer of 2008 the story of Tim & Charlotte began. Their eyes met across the photocopier on the then bustling Funds floor at Standard Bank Jersey, a date to see Indiana Jones and Crystal Skull sealed the deal and the romance began. Sharing a love of travel they jetted off on holiday after holiday and in heat of the moment in a haze of Thai whiskey Tim proposed, Charlotte said yes and on the 27 February 2010 they married. The love of travel became too much and Tim & Charlotte decided that a working life in Jersey was not for them, and the plan was hatched to travel the world. With flats sold and jobs redundant what better time to make a break for it. Tim & Charlotte have their whole lives in their backpacks and pockets full of dreams. The plan - Travel overland from Jersey to Japan. Trains, ferries, jeeps and buses to travel 6062.07miles (and that is if you are a crow!). Along the way the journey will involve 24 hours on a ferry from Finland to St Petersburg, five days solid on the Transiberian express from Moscow to Siberia, nine days travelling around Mongolia in a Russian jeep whilst staying with local yak hearders, sleeper trains around china, 48 hours on a ferry from Shanghai to Osaka and at least one night sleeping in a pod hotel (giant oven) in Japan. Then onwards to Thailand for some R&R, to soak up some sun and to plan the rest of the trip... Cambodia, Loas, Vietnam, Burma, Australia, New Zealand, South Pacific Islands then up through South America, perhaps a few detours along the way and hopefully a the end of it all a business opportunity will have arisen. Join us on the biggest adventure which will inevitably leave us looking like a pair of idiots abroad with our matching Mr & Mrs Backpacks!
