I did a multibeam survey on a multi-party science cruise 60 miles off the coast of North Carolina
About this blog
This was a co-operatice cruise between SCRIPPS, The Universisity California of San Diego, and Columbia University. We were doing a three part survey that included seafloor mapping, bottom core sampling and autonomous underwater vehicle missions. The AUV was operated by scientists from MIT at Woods Hole. They were literally a bunch of rocket scientists with big toys and big budgets, they had a lot of fun. The bottom core sampling was headed by Neil Driscoll from Scripps and the party chief was Jeff Weisel, an Aussie who teaches at Columbia. Also on board were science staff, crew, and some graduate students.
