France was my first taste of a foreign country, and my first solo trip experience, but it was nothing compared to my first external trip out of France to Poland. My reason for traveling to Poland was to learn more about my maternal grandfather, who immigrated to the US after WWII...he was supposedly from Warsaw and had lost most of his family in a concentration camp during the war.He had always been a mystery to my family and I so I traveled to Poland to learn indirectly about my grandfather,my Polish heritage, and about Poland's dark past,and yet have some fun at the time time.Even though I didn't do actual geneological research while I was there, traveling there brought me closer to a man and a culture that I knew nothing about until now.
