About this blog
The "Big Durian" is not exactly famous for sightseeing, I took lots of pictures in the historic part of old "Batavia" and then by the old port, which is right by a nasty slum/shantytown that will made you feel very happy for what you have compared to this. Spent almost 2 hours walking around there and made it out without a scratch before heading to Chinatown.
Never heard of "durian" fruit? From Wikipedia:
"The edible flesh emits a distinctive odour, strong and penetrating even when the husk is intact. Some people regard the durian as fragrant; others find the aroma overpowering and offensive. The smell evokes reactions from deep appreciation to intense disgust. The odour has led to the fruit's banishment from certain hotels and public transportation in southeast Asia."
